The cutting of a diamond
First of all, let us put you at ease: in principle, only another diamond can scratch your diamond. To cut a rough diamond into the diamond of your jewel, an (industrial) diamond is used. The cutting of a diamond consists of 5 steps. In addition, it is very important to only buy diamond jewellery with a diamond certificate. This counts for your engagement ring with diamond as well.
Scratches and cracks
Of course, when you hit the diamond forcefully at a specific angle with a steal hammer, the diamond will split in a thousand little pieces. Therefore, do not try to find out the authenticity of your diamond by scratching it with another material. A real diamond will not get scratched, but a little piece can accidently chip. Because only another diamond can scratch your diamond, it is important that you do not keep your engagement ring with diamond together with your other diamond jewellery in a jewellery box. When you do not wear your engagement ring with diamond for a period, store it separately in a jewellery box or in the little box it was packaged in. That way you avoid your diamond jewels to rub against each other and get little cracks as a result.
Just as your car, you have to clean your diamond jewellery regularly in order to be able to enjoy it for a long time. You can clean your engagement ring with diamond at home without damaging it. Of course, you have to be careful while doing it. Do not use a rough brush or any sharp or scratching instruments. It is also recommended to let your diamond jewellery be regularly checked by a specialist. Try to do this every 6 to 12 months.
