The Canavieiras is a Brazilian diamond of excellent quality. The name has its origins in the Canavieiras mines close to a place called Canavieiras in the Brazilian state Bahia. Large amounts of diamonds have been found in the alluvial deposits of the Pardo River that flows in the Atlantic Ocean at the port of Canavieiras. These diamonds were discovered in the years 1881-1882 by a forest ranger, who had already been searching for diamonds in other areas nearby the Canavieiras mines.
