The table of a diamond is the top facet of the diamond in the center of the crown. As with all other facets, it is important that the table is cut in the right proportion. If the table is too small or too large, this will influence the brilliance of the diamond. For a round brilliant, a table percentage of 53 to 58 per cent is seen as ideal, but sometimes there is a slight deviation from these values in order to retain more weight. A larger table, however, can make the diamond appear optically larger.
