Pure gold (24 carat) is naturally yellow and quite soft. To make it stronger, it is melted together with other metals. By using specific metals, the alloy takes on a white, yellow, red, or rose colour. If the alloy consists of 75% gold, 22.5% copper and 2.75% silver, we get red gold. If the quantity of silver is slightly higher or lower, then the colour tends more towards rose, or red.
