In a single diamond shape cut, we speak of a very small round diamond with only sixteen or seventeen facets as opposed to the normal 57 or 58 facets of a full round brilliant cut. Single cuts are sometimes used with pave jewellery where several small diamonds are put together, but also with other jewels where several small diamonds were put close together with a bigger diamond. Also, when there is a composition with larger stones, a combination of single and brilliant cuts is possible.
